COSRT holds two Registers covering Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists, and Relationship Therapists. These are for practitioners who have demonstrated that they meet the levels of professional standards, training, and ethical practice service users need. The public, employers and a range of stakeholders check the Registers when recruiting or choosing a therapist. And COSRT Registration is required for many professional posts dealing with specialist therapies across sectors.
All Members who are active Psychosexual and Relationship Therapists, or Relationship Therapists should be Registered.
There are three categories of Membership that Registrants can hold, reflecting the career pathway:
- Registered Member
- Accredited Member
- Senior Accredited Member
The second and third of these categories mean that a Member has achieved Accreditation. This demonstrates the highest professional and ethical standards within the speciality. These cover specialist knowledge and training, demonstrable experience, and ongoing professional development. COSRT Accreditation is required for many professional posts across sectors.

Registered
For qualified therapists who can demonstrate they have the knowledge and skills required to provide high quality therapeutic services.
Accredited
For therapists with high levels of expertise and experience who meet stringent criteria and set the standards for the profession. Accreditation indicates seniority and quality.
Senior Accredited (Clinical)
Our most senior Members have completed a number of years in training and practice, and have held COSRT Accredited status.
