This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and opportunities for clinical practice in the area of psychosexual therapy. It qualifies graduates to practice as psychosexual therapists in statutory and voluntary sectors as well as in private practice.

- Open to experienced therapists and counsellors who have a clinical qualification in psychotherapy, counselling or counselling psychology from a nationally accredited training (e.g. BACP/BPC/UKCP)

At Tavistock Relationships (TR), we make a substantial contribution to developing and supporting services, which offer help to couples and families by teaching, researching and writing about our work. We aim to provide services that improve the quality of adult sexual relationships, prevent family breakdown and enhance the lives of children. Our approach is informed by psychoanalytic thinking, promoting an understanding of interactive processes in couple relationships, service delivery, and organisational relationships. In addition, we offer consultation and professional development to a wide range of practitioners from related fields. We also contribute to policy and practice debates at public and professional levels. TR is recognised as a centre of excellence in advanced practice and study, both nationally and internationally. Its authority comes from grounding academic study and training expertise in clinical practice. Core staff are experienced relationship and psychosexual therapists and practice at TR as Visiting Clinicians, or are in private practice, work within the NHS or other clinical institutes. At Tavistock Relationships we:
- Supply specialist therapeutic services to couples and individuals experiencing difficulties in their intimate relationships.
- Provide training and consultancy on delivering, developing and managing services for couples and families.
- Undertake research that contributes to the understanding of couple and family relationships and how best they might be improved.
- Collaborate with the universities to provide masters level programme
TR is an operational unit of the Tavistock Institute of Medical Psychology, founded in 1920. It is a registered charity (No. 211058) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 241618). TR is involved in developing its services in ways that make them accessible to all who wish to use them. It subscribes to a set of professional and research code of ethics and seeks to promote high ethical standards in all its work. The work is supported by central government funding, project grants, fees paid for services and donations.
