Biography

I have been a Relationship Counsellor for nearly 20 years and a Psychosexual Therapist for 16 years. During this time, I have seen changes in the presenting problems that clients bring to therapy. I am constantly updating my skills through Mandatory Training, Continuous Professional Development and Supervision.
My practice is regulated by this professional body, supervision and line- management within the organisation where I am employed, to ensure that I am working to a safe, professional standard.
I am a member of the South-West Psychosexual Therapists Forum, a group of professionals working in the field of sex therapy who meet on a bi-monthly basis to share ideas and skills and address clinical issues in casework.
I regularly attend Conferences in the Sexual Therapy and Sexual Health fields and I also regularly give presentations to Health Professionals in the fields of Sexual Health and Obstetrics and Gynaecology. I also give presentations to local General Practitioners. I have a close working relationship with these professionals and receive many of my referrals in this way.
However clients do not have to go through a Health professional to access my service, they can self-refer through the website.

Types of Therapy Used

Issues Dealt With

Whilst I work with all the sexual dysfunctions, a good deal of my work is with vulval pain disorders and vaginisimus. I also work with clients who are struggling with their use of pornography and paraphilia's. I can also treat Psychological difficulties which adversely impact on a person’s ability to engage in an intimate or sexual relationship e.g. trauma resulting from childhood sexual abuse or sexual assualt. Working in a Healthcare setting has given me a good working knowledge of the impact of medical issues and medication upon a person's ability to function sexually.
