Psychosexual Therapy Qualifications

BSc, C. Psychol, M Phil in clinical psychology.
I started to work with psychosexual and relationship difficulties in the NHS before there were any formal training courses, and soon became recognised for my experience, teaching and clinical skills with sexual and couple problems.

Biography

i am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist specialising in couples therapy and sexology. From 2012-2017 I had the role of Senior Academic Tutor in Psychosexual Studies at Tavistock Relationships , and currently I am a Visiting Tutor at TR. I trained at the Institute of Psychiatry and worked in adult mental health earlier in my career, before becoming Head of a Relationship and Psychosexual Service in North East London from 1995 until 2012. Since focusing on relationships and psychosexual work I have presented at conferences in the UK and abroad, and was honorary lecturer and tutor for the Doctoral degree course at UCL .I have given talks at COSRT conferences, confer cpd, and run many seminars and training courses, My publications include various peer-reviewed papers and book chapters covering a range of topics, including psychosexual development, coital pain, arousal and desire difficulties, gender differences in sexual motivation and ethical issues. I was joint editor and contributor to Hiller, Wood and Bolton (2006)”Sex Mind and Emotion”, and co-wrote a chapter “Psychodynamic aspects of Psychosexual Therapy” (2013) for the European –wide syllabus of clinical sexology published by the European Society of Sexual Medicine. My private practice in North London, and I am especially interested in biopsychosocial factors in sexual and gender development, and the relevance of neuroscience in understanding sexual behaviour. Over the years I have gained experience in treating every aspect of
sexual and relationships issues. As I am on the British Psychological Society media list I am often asked by journalists for comments on relationship topics
