Nicola Nicolson

I am an experienced psychosexual and sex addiction therapist, based in Manchester, used to working creatively and considerately with a diverse range of individuals, and people in partnered and couple relationships, struggling with sexual difficulties and/or compulsive sexual behaviour. I work with the whole range of psychosexual problems, from erectile and ejaculation difficulties to painful sex and low desire. I also work with people who feel they are experiencing sex/porn addiction or compulsive sexual behaviour.

When I work with people I use a pluralistic approach. This means I initially carry out a full assessment of your current difficulties, so that we can then explore and agree what may work best for you and I can support you in a way that fits with your needs. We will work in a safe, non-judgemental space, where you can discuss, question and review your progress as we work towards achieving change in your sexual relationships.

What helps me in my therapeutic work are personal qualities that include determination and grittiness in the face of many challenges in life. I have provided counselling for a major mental health charity before setting up my private practice in 2017, and currently provide Psychosexual Therapy for the NHS. I work face to face and online from premises in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Manchester.
